Wildfire in the Antelope Valley

From the July 7, 2005 Antelope Valley Press:

0707 P1-1

0707 P2

R2292835506-1

“PALMDALE - Smoke still billowed above the hills and mountains south of Palmdale on Wednesday, casting a gray shadow over the charred remnants of the previous night's fire.

The 1,200-acre fire was first reported around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and quickly spread around the Ana Verde Hills. The fire is believed to have started on Sierra Pelona Road, a dirt road in the hills.

Though the mountains were charred, and 20 houses were evacuated, no structures were burned in the fire that kept 250 firefighters working all night.”

Hey. Nice to see some other bloggers in AV and Kern areas (I'm presently residing in Landcancer). Check out my blog "Contingencies" for irreverent, anti-establishment rants and raves, featuring plenty of equal-opportunity misanthropy, mockery of both left and right, and alcohol and drug fueled satire, sort of HS Thompson arguing with Bertrand Russell over Esmeralda in a Pahrump bordello.
