Ikea's Vika Inge legs by Olle Lundberg: aluminum is the metal of modernism?
I was wasting time (precious time) over at Apartment Therapy when I came across their posting about Ikea's Vika Inge table legs.
I like the same legs paired with Ikea's Vika Lauri table top at 46“ x 30”. The legs attach with one allen bolt; everything is stock Ikea. Plenty solid, and a perfect match for Apple Computer's aluminum product
designs
.
This close-up reveals the cheap metal casting that left a big seam on the inside of the leg. The outside of the leg is clean, though; and the table top's aluminum edge is perfectly smooth.

Love the desk; it really looks great. How did you attach the legs, given that you didn't drill into the glass? Did they just slide into an open edge? How easily done was it? Is it all very sturdy and steady? I need something similar and would like to keep the assembly part as simple as possible. Maxwell's table is great, but your piece might look even better in my place.

Excellent IKEA mod! But, I'm more impressed with the telecaster. Ha! Is that a recording setup with the computer?

If you like the Telecaster, then check out my earlier postings here and here.

Well done. I was curious where the chair and side shelves came from? Please do tell.

The chair is Emeco's 1006 Navy Chair. I found mine on Craigslist, a little worn but no worse off (I was happy to save 70% off retail). The glass-door cabinets on each side of the desk are Ikea. They have a blond oak veneer, frosted glass door with aluminum-colored plastic pulls, and metal legs. They're not exactly rock solid and the materials are pretty low grade, but they were worth every penny of the $69 I paid for each one. They belong to a series of similar pieces that Ikea makes which I think are some of their best designs; unfortunately, I can't remember the name!

Tried to find the legs that you have on the table at the IKEA website but search did not turn up any results. Can you tell me where to buy those legs?

Note to previous poster Raj: the Ikea Web site does not carry the full line of items they make. The best you can do is go to an Ikea store and hope they have what you want in stock. Remember, too, that Ikea cycles designs in and out of production.

Love the setup. I'm moving next week and will get me one of them ;)
The legs are available at Ikea and the holes are pre-drilled. Click here to see more...
