Burning Man live web cam and radio: dusty days on the playa
Dig the live Burning Man webcam and Burning Man radio. Below, some photos from the webcam. The dust has been really bad this year, apparently; the playa only got 2“ of rain over the winter, which wasn't enough to re-set the playa mud. As a result, there's a huge amount of loose dust this year, ready to be blown around by the wind.

the machine in the garden // the garden in the machine
Inside the virtuous/insidious circle of machine and nature. The duality of inside and outside. Taming the wilderness and lamenting its loss. Time measured in dollars; extinction measured in species. Lush green and chilling metal. Shoeboxes and hilltops. Pixels and cells.

Burning Man moments
Some memorable moments from Burning Man 2005:
The people! The people! The people! Over the course of four days, I must have had over 30 conversations with totally cool people that I just met. The openness of Black Rock City citizens is a model for society!
Riding my bicycle in a moving abstract video image being projected onto the playa from an art car cruising at night.
Talking to Libby from San Francisco, who was having a free playa drink (a Tangosa: Tang + Champagne) after finding out that the guy she had been dating for three weeks had had a threesome on the playa the night before and taken it up the pooper.
Riding my bicycle across a dark playa an hour after The Man burned, approaching that incredible 108-foot tall ladder (as if emerging from one dream and floating into another) and having the privilege of talking with the artist.
Seen one night: dozens of pulsing circular lights hanging from ragged branches in someone's “front yard” near 7:30 and Gestalt. Night time, this year with no moon, was especially incredible, a visual treat.
Taking off my shoes and getting onto my hands and knees to crawl into the white-felt lined submarine emerging from the playa surface.
Taking cover from a dust-up with Nathan from Modesto in the wind shadow of a dome on the esplanade.
Chanting, with six new friends, at sunset while sitting inside a monolithic sculpture on the playa.
Going to the medical tent on Thursday evening with some crazy stomach pain that I occasionally get.
Letting a guy out of a chicken-wire-and-2x4 cage he got trapped in, then sitting with the camp who rigged the trap to watch others get caught.
Catching a swing-n-spin ride on the amazing 8-swing truck, then meeting a Halliburton employee who came from Iraq to be at Burning Man.
Seeing a wedding at the temple at sunset, and then seeing my friend mist the bride and groom after their kiss.
Coming onto the esplanade after some time alone on the playa after the burn, and warming up by a fire sculpture that flung beautiful sparks into the wind.
